So I forgot to upload pictures of it yesterday when it came, but this thing is pretty slick. really like the design for the tablet.
But yeah got to spend some time with this new tablet of mine yesterday.

Prolly going to try and do weekly updates of what i've been sketching up... but sometimes with work it kinda screws up with the times i draw. But not too bad, most of the time i just feel lazy. XP

Lol this one was pretty random, i think i messed up her back, she looks hunchbacked lol.

This one i wanted to do a little more practice with full body poses... cuz i almost never do them.

yep, this ones NOT a touhou fanart.. its actually from Gosick (currently one of the better series of anime this quarter) also this was a good background practice for me, cuz like full body, i never do backgrounds LOL. I had fun working on this.

Well thats about it for this week, hopefully i can keep this up.

oh yeah i also ordered a bamboo pen tablet, so hopefully i can use that to create some illustrations that not a sketch dump XD. yeah, also got SAI onto my Mac using VMware Fusion 3, so i need to start learning how to use SAI and become a pro. lolz.

Touhou Sketchdumps 1.27.11-1.30.11

havent really been doing any drawing till recently, been going back to the basics and was drawing other stuffz, but finaly i got some "go spirit" to do some other drawings other than boring(but important) basics.

So yeah... YAY more Touhou drawingssssss. Just gonna post random sketch dump stuff... i really like process's so took some pictures of my sketches... over the past few days, each of the drawings were drawn around 9pm-12pm i like to draw more at night. keeps me more consentrated for some reason.. i dunno. Anyhow so each sketch took about 2-3 hours each. (would slack off for half an hour or somthing and go watch some anime XD)

was trying to get some seriousness......but

nope... i guess i cant really do much seriousness..

This one i didnt get pictures of the other process...cuz i didnt really need to.

both put together..sorta.. kinda cool.

wow!

Now only if i had a Cintiq then instead of losing led and erasing like crazy..i could draw all day like this... i think i've improved a little..especially in the way of body structure..still far, but def. a little step foward my goal. yep

Hopefully more of these kinda sketch dump.

Mori Kaoru, the artist fore the manga Otoyomegatari (乙嫁語り) and also the well know manga Emma.
Been recently reading her manga and was amazed with the detail works of Otoyomegatari, its really beautifully rendered. Very inspirational.

Sculpey Project Day 2

Day 2 of the project, thought i'd be able to finish the head, but guess not.. XD but I was able to add the ears. LOL, so perhaps tomorrow I can work on the head...not sure though. I also have work from 3-7 which is a terrible time... cuz thats when i like to do my art stuff..

So i had to cut off his arms so i can fill in details and work on parts individually. I need to do his pants next which shouldnt be that hard. Any how its coming close...

Dunno how much i'll be able to do tomorrow, but hopefully something.

Sculpey Project Day 1

Been a while since the last time I used sculpey to make something... last time was... uhh
last year.. sometimes around octoberish. Anyhow, this time I used a tutorial from youtube on "how to make your own Garage kit" which is pretty much making your own figurines. At this point I'm just going to be focusing on just making the model and not making any resin kits...cuz its too much work and I dont know how to do it so well.. atm.

Anyhow today is the first day of the project, went over to the local hardware store and found some Epoxy Putty, god those things smell sooooo bad...

So with the quick hardening epoxy putty, i made the body parts and stuff, those things harden like in 5 min.

Then drilling 1,5 mm hole into each part and attaching them with steel wire, creating an armature of the figure.

Then i used more putty to fill in the open area, creating the body.

After the putty armature finished, i added white sculpey onto it. Also started on the first part of making the head.

Just another shot of how it looks so far.

Made the eye and mouth for the piece.

And I put them into the oven and baked them for a good 30-40min and now they is hard, just gotta do some sanding here and there, then I gotta move onto phase 2. The detail works.

So far so good i guess... just gotta see how far i can go with this. Day 2 tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I hope everyone's day was a great one, I know I had a somewhat eventful day. More than words let me share pictures.

Our family, we usually dont feast like this on Thanksgiving, we usually just eat sushi or something and finished, but this year we thought we'd give it a try. Although its not Turkey, we had Chicken. If we had turkey we would never finish all of it and it'll go to waste. Lol it was a really brown dinner.

Chicken!?!?!? XD home made fried/oven baked chicken tastes really goood. and the biscuit is also very great with butter and jam.

The only colorful food we had was the baked veggies..and it was still dark.

Then after the great meal, we all got together as a family and played some card games... we also played some poker and I won $20. XD yessss. After the card games we all watched Kungfu Panda lol. what a great movie to watch, we also had lots of desserts.

mmm that orange flavored chocolate, sooo goood.

I also made my own parfait, XD it was really sweet. layerings as follows..top to bottom.

Oh god... i dont know what to say, today was just too epic.

So we were able to meet with our friend's parent today, they came all the way from Japan to visit places where their son went to.

It was our pleasure to take them to places today, IN the snow. The snow just made things more epic and at the same time more frustrating at times. Just want to point out, thanks to our great driver we didnt get into any accidents. Seems like everywhere we went today there was at least 1 or 2 car accidents because of the snow/ice on the road.

We went to visit Bruce Lee's grave, the Alki beach..(lol) and my previous work place. All in all it was a good 4-5 hours of driving around and site seeing IN the snow.

Here is the awesome video of us in the storm.

We were really happy that our friend's parent had a good time, at least a memorable time. We sure did.

To finish it up, they gave us money for the great time and we used the money to eat reallllly goood food. Thank you Toru's Parent for the awesome dinner!

All in all today was by far the most epicest (lol) day ever. Great memory, never to be forgotten.

The Snow is falling harder than earlier so now school's closed for the next day and more crazy cars accidents...people here dont know how to drive.

On a random note, I got my Speed Anime Trance Best 11 CD today :D it also came with a poster.

if anyone wants a rip of this just let me know.

It snowed yesterday but didnt stick, but this morning when i woke up there was alot of snow and it actually stuck to the ground...now it stopped so everything is melting... but hopefully it'll snow some more later on.
First snow of the year, its so early, but makes sense cuz its freakin cold here right now.

Oreimo Contest

So ANN is having another contest, the prize is actually really awesome.

Anyhow, In a nutshell, ANN has 2 contest... and the requirement is to go watch Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Na and/or togainu no chi, depending on what you want to enter... For the Oreimo (shortened) all you have to do is draw a Fan art of Oreimo, and not sure about the Togainu one, but i heard its a Cosplay contest...so im guessing dress up as the characters in the series..idk... im not interested in the togainu contest anyways XD.

here is a sneak peak of what i have working in progress for the Oreimo contest.

So hopefully over the weekend i could start the inking and hopefully coloring. I'll probably make a art process page for it.

Just got it in mail today, internet shopping is awesome. Bought this at YesAsia.com, their shipping for books is really cheap compared to other Asian online shops. Now I can get books online for a fair price and get books that aren't sold at local Japanese bookstores.

This manga here is called Barakamon (vol.3) by Yoshino Satsuki. Slice of life comedy, very similar to Azuma Kiyohiko's Yotsubato! So if your a fan of Yotsubato, then this will be a great one to check out.

been pretty bored without much hours from work... so today ive been just lazily sitting around practicing Bass and watching anime and drawing... this is just a pretty simple sketch i did in about an hour... cant wait to get a cintiq so i can sketch without eraser dust flying all over the place and pencil led smearing all over your hands and stuff... XD not that it bothers me..<_<>_>

Makoto Shinkai and his next work

Just read this on ANN. Makoto Shinkai's next piece, Hoshi o Ou Kodomo.

They just released the first trailer for the movie, oh man just a few second trailer was just beutiful... it was breathtaking. Makoto Shinkai's works are always so beutifully done. I cannot wait for this film, which is showing in theaters next year (May 2011).

Vancouver once again

It was a good couple months since we last went to Vancouver, the weather report said that it will be cloudy and raining, but they were wrong! :D

It was such a nice weather, no clouds, just the blue sky and the sun. Perfect weather.

We arrived to Vancouver around 330pm. The first stop was KINTARO! the Best ramen place in the NW. (So far)

I probably uploaded this picture before, but its so good im posting it again.

and this is what my friend got...

We then went over to the Crepe shop/Japanese Konbini that was closed last time, but this time it was open so we were able to grab one (with the left over canadian bill)

we got the MatchaAzuki Crepe

The Crepe was delicious, the soft yet chewy dough was just perfect and the matcha icecream and azuki with creme was a great combo, and it was pretty cheap too.

Next time I'd like to try these....

sorry the glare is terrible... its suppose to be a strawberry short cake crepe... looks good.

and of course we went to Book off again, but this time not for books, but for CD's.
I was able to find some pretty cheap singles album

Shinryaku Ika-Musume

Fanarts of Ika-musume, from Shinryaku Ika-Musume. Great comedy series about a squid girl trying to take over the world, pretty much you can say its like Keroro Gunsou, but a squid trying.

and about the drawing... i hate drawing the legs its so hard to get it right.. =__= i was debating whether to leave it without the legs or add them... and just ended up adding them oh well. No color, just B/W/G too much trouble doing colors.

So I did another Ika drawing today and this time with color... gosh i suck at coloring..=__= it never turns out as what i want.. what do i do...;_; lol w/e I'll manage..

Gosh i need to draw more.. its been so long since i drew a picture.. So hopefully I'll have more things to show.

Akita, Asobi no Fukei

Just got my Akita, Asobi no Fukei book by Oga Kazuo, it was alot different from what i imagined, but the book is pretty fun. alot of Colorful images painted by Oga Kazuo.

Oga Kazuo by the way is the one who does the background art works for Hayao Miyazaki's films. Very inspirational artist.

So I changed my blog a bit.. .XD pretty much got rid of the Touhou Related bits...THAT doesnt mean that i hate touhou... I LOVE TOUHOU! Touhou 4 ever... anyway, i just thought it was pretty clumped up and felt like clearing unnecessary thing is all.

Also a little mistake on my part of erasing the Tabs... so now all the labels are pretty useless.. so hopefully i can fix that up and be able to bring back some tabs and such for your convenience.

On another note.

one thing that i did was started searching for a new job, Im just not getting enough hours and the boss doesnt seem to get that, so im kinda annoyed. Anyhow had my interview at Fred Meyer today, hopefully all goes well and i get to change jobs...

Just caught up with the manga "The World God Only Knows", i remember trying to read this manga couple months ago, but just couldnt do it, then i saw that this series was going to be animated for this Fall's lineup, so I watched the first episode and it was pretty good, i then gave the manga another shot and was able to catch up to the most recent chapter. man another manga to get.

Graphic Novel Society, a club at the University of Washington, today was the first meeting of the quarter. Had a pretty good time, although i probably should of mingled a little more, but was just focusing on drawing, was probably drawing for an hour or less, but next week i hope i'll be able to get to know more about the members and their drawings. anyhow this is was i did at the club and i thought i did a good job, seeing how i didnt draw anything (much) ever since coming back from japan, which was like 3 weeks... uhh i need to draw more..

Anyhow thats all for now, dunno when i'll do another update, but hopefully soon... XP

My original Touhou Character

This is a OC (original Character) Touhou Design. The first concept design of this character was made in 2008, so its been about 2 years.. so you can say its like my progress or w/e... Anyhow, why i just recreated this character was b/c im going to submit this to the Touhou OC contest, which is held in the Deviantart Touhou group.

I still need to think of name of the character, i pretty much know her background and such, just the name is hard... yeah.. anyhow heres a comparison of what i did in 2008 and to now.

So Weekly shonen jump had a little campaign recently to celebrate Naruto manga selling 100 million books in Japan. A pretty intresting campaign this was, where the publishing group Shueisha and the PresentTree company propsed to plant 7610 trees in the Yamanashi perfecture and naming it the "Naruto's Forest"

And so yesterday i got an air mail from Japan, and I was kind of confused what it was, (it was a good 2 month or so since I entered the drawing) then i read Shueisha, and then i remembered that it was something with the tree planting thing, and it was.

the mail was pretty small, but it had lots of stuff in it, in which one was an illustration done by Masashi Kishimoto (author of Naruto manga) which was pretty sweet.

Anyhow it seems like they will finish the planting process sometime next year, so if i go to japan next year, im gonna go see my tree~! XD

Byakuren Hijiri Steps

I was too lazy to scan the Pencil Sketch, so heres the other sketch.
So here is the process!! ENJOI!

1) Pencil Lineart with outlines to where each shade/light will go with the different colors

2) Lineart done digitally with Photoshop.

3)Make a simple gradient B/G to get a feel to what your B/G will look

4) Insert Base color to each part, make sure to make them seperate layers.

5) Then add shade and light to the works.

6) Add sparkly stuff to make it look pretty.

Anyhow this is my failure attempt at CG'ng.. its so hard.. but i guess i like how it turned out.. alot of work was put into it a good 10 hours +

i've been using alot of sparkly as for the B/G laterly, but i really like it for some reason, i dont really know why, but it just makes the image look pretty. XD

Anyhow I'll post the step by step soon too.

Angel Beats was by far the best series I've seen recently, its been a while since i felt like i've watched a satisfying series. The story, animation, music in this series was beautifully done. This is definitely one of my top series now.

I hear that there is a special episode thats with the Bluray thats coming out pretty soon. Hopefully when i get enough money i'll be able to pick it up. Anyhow, if you guys have the chance, i highly suggest you guys to watch it. NOW.

So i guess i broke my hands 2 weeks ago playing Football.
My first time i broke any part of my body and it HAD to be my right hand aka my drawing hand.
So after 2 weeks I went to the hospital to do a check up and had my hands xrayed. And the result is.....

YAY! right in the center... So Im going to need a Cast and the healing can range from 4-6 weeks, so yeah probably no drawing for a while, great way to start the new year. LOL

Happy new year everyone!!!

This year ended really fast... i dont understand, but it was a good year indeed.. did so many things, but i dont remember most of it. XD
All i can say is that this year, i mainly focased alot on doing Touhou Fanarts, so hopefully next year.. or should i say THIS year of 2010, i'll be able to do more touhou fanarts, but at the same time be more creative and be able to create my own something!

Canada Trip Tres!

So at last second we decided to go to Canada today, yay for last minute action!

We were suppose to go earlier this month, but with the weather going crazy we were unsure, but then we found out other people went there with no problem, so we decided to go today!
The weather in Canada was not sunny and bright blue sky, but was rainy and cloudy, but that's nothing special to us, cuz that's the default weather here in Seattle. So pretty much it was like Seattle again, but cleaner. XD

So yeah, today we brought with us Pierson Brooks to Vancouver! last time it was Rory. So we pretty much did our usual routine and ate at. .EZOGIKU ramen.

Then we went to BOOKOFF!!! and spent about a good 2 and a half hour searching for books and such. This time i was short on money so i wasnt able to buy all that much, but i think i was able to get a decent amount for the price i payed. They were also having a 20% off sale too, if you bought over $20 worth of item at the store they will take 20% off, which was really awesome!

Water Color test

So yesterday i started on a Watercolor piece, and just finished it. Watercolor is very hard material to use... orz.. and this was pretty much a test to see if the comic paper i bought (mentioned on previous entry) and the result... not very good, the paper became almost wrinkly, but since the paper was somewhat heavy, it didnt really rip apart.
XD kinda saw that coming, but it was worth a try.

Im a total noob with water color, im not even sure how to properly use watercolor so that the colors dont mix or smudge out. In the end i just did them quite lightly and some dark, i think it turned out ok for a beginner...

I didnt like how it looked like just with watercolor, so i inked it and made it more bold, i really like my sakura micron pens. They make my drawings like drawings.. (XD) but yeah with the ink i was able to get a more bold image of the picture that i wanted.

Hakurei Reimu and Ibuki Suika, water color.

As you can see in the image that on the right hand side area the paper is a little wedged, it was worse, but i kinda straightened it out, but its still wont go back to being a flat piece of paper. :(

yet again sorry for the quality, i had to take a picture, cuz i dont have a large enough scanner to scan this 11x17 piece of paper...

Over all i dont think we should use the comic book paper for watercolor, better stick with the super heavy bristol or watercolor paper. yup yup

東方星蓮船　〜 Undefined Fantastic Object

Recently i bought a 11 x 17 Smooth Bristol Paper, used to draw comics and stuff. So i just tried it out today, and it really is a difference between 8.5 x 11 copy paper (the paper i usually use) and this Comic paper, one thing is that the paper is huge... its really hard to draw on such a big paper on a small desk.. =__='' but i managed.

Sorry about the quality, since this paper is huge i dont have a scanner that can scan such paper, so i just took a picture of it. Soon as i get back to school, i'll scan it with their big O scanner. So wait for bout couple weeks and it should be updated with the real deal.

But as of now, i do like to use this paper, really big, and has good surface. I liked how my inking came out as well. Only $12 for 24 sheets, which isnt that bad.

I tried using watercolor on this paper... i dunno, its tough, maybe its just that im not good with watercolor or maybe i just shouldnt use waterbased medium for this comic paper.
It did hold and nothing ripped apart, but the paper is all bendy now with the dried paint and stuff, I'll upload the image soon as i finish it, but yeah, water color might not be a good idea for this paper...
